On this page we have included some devotional materials and resources that families and individuals can use in their own homes to worship our Lord and be nourished in their faith.
Resources for Spiritual Growth
We hope that the following materials will help you and your family dig deeper into and remain in God’s Word. If your family has gotten out of the habit, or has never been in the habit, of family or personal devotions, now is an excellent time to build or rebuild the family altar. If you have already been in the habit of family or personal devotions, hopefully these resources can help strengthen your family altar.
Pastor Sprunger has put together some devotional material that contains orders of worship and prayer suggestions for your family. For devotions that can be used with the orders of worship, WELS publishes a Daily Devotion, which can also sign up to have delivered to you each day by email. WELS has also just started publishing Family Devotions three days a week. Northwestern Publishing House also offers many good devotional books for purchase.
Courtesy of WELS’ own Northwestern Publishing house, a number of resources have been made available. They have made digital copies and music for 80 hymns available for download that you can use at home. They have also made some Sunday School lessons available for all grade levels to help us keep our children in and learning God’s Word.
If you’ve ever wanted to read through your Bible, Biblica publishes a reading plan that will lead you through your Bible in one year. Want something even more aggressive? Check out the 90 Day Bible Challenge.
Christian Family Solutions has provided an excellent video with good advice for parents on how to best care for your children - and yourselves - at this time. They have also created a guide that you can use to help your child during this crisis. WELS has also provided some good suggestions for parents of young children.
If you are looking for a good means by which to share Bible stories with your young children, my children have LOVED The Story Bible. There are also some activity and coloring pages that can be used with The Story Bible. Another good option is the Adventure Bible, which our oldest really loves. There is also an Early Readers edition of the Adventure Bible.
May God bless your time in his Word!
